Confirmed showcase on Netflix
Rockstar Games officially set the date for their next piece of GTA 6 content, catching fans off guard with a pretty unusual format. Titled 'Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look', the showcase drops on August 27 at 4 PM BRT, exclusively for Netflix subscribers. If you don't have Netflix, don't worry—the full stream will be released for free on YouTube and Rockstar's website six hours later, at 10 PM.
Instead of just dropping another short teaser, they're promising to go deep into the game, showing off gameplay mechanics, environments, and brand-new footage. This move breaks a long silence on the franchise and kicks off the massive marketing campaign for the title, which recently went up for pre-order alongside a batch of new screenshots.
Tighter strategy against leaks
The move to use a streaming platform comes after a messy history of leaks that hit the game's development hard. Back in 2022, early dev footage leaked online, and in late 2023, the very first trailer dropped earlier than scheduled because of a leak. Ever since those incidents, the dev team locked things down with strict security to protect all official content from leaking again.
According to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, this August event is just an early taste of what's to come. He basically called the show an appetizer, hinting that the full marketing push will pick up even more steam over the following months. The promise is that the community will get regular gameplay updates leading up to the game's official release.
What to expect in the coming months
On the rumor front, reports claim the game has already hit insane pre-order numbers, though we're still waiting on detailed official confirmation. With launch set for November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, players will definitely want to keep a close eye on Rockstar's official channels right after the August showcase, where new videos and tech deep-dives will roll out step by step.
